Anderson, Ind. — A pair of Anderson University student films are headed to the big screen. Cos-Played, directed by Te Lian, and At the Next Stop, directed by Hannah Gross, will screen at the Victory International Film Festival in Evansville, Indiana, Sept. 7-9.

“The students put in a massive amount of work to complete these films,” said Jack Lugar, professor of cinema and media arts. “The opportunity to have them screened in front of an audience is the ultimate reward for their hard work. Films are made to be shared and festivals like Victory offer that perfect opportunity.”

Both films originally premiered at the Black Bird Film Festival in April 2023. Cos-Played follows the lives of two anime fans who eventually fall in love. The short film was created as a part of the Field, Post, and Soundstage class in spring 2023. The crew included Seth Young (producer), Te Lian (director), Abby Rose Veselsky (writer), Colin Batin (editor), Caleb Anderson (director of photography), Alexander Himelick (sound), and Kate Papenfus (production assistant). The cast featured Anya Burke, Perrin Belcher, Zoey Osheskie, and Aidan Lucas.

At The Next Stop follows Lori as she struggles to cope with the loss of her father. She learns she is not alone in her struggles with Hank, her rideshare driver. The film was an independent study project. The crew included Hannah Gross (director/producer/director of photography), Will Graham (writer), Eden Turner (editor), and Alexander Himelick (sound). The cast featured Abby Rose Veselsky and Will Graham.

Kris Rinas and Lugar provided guidance with writing, production, and post production.
