Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University recently received a $2.5 million donation from Jay and Nancy Ricker. The donation will be used for student scholarships, expanding AU’s cybersecurity program, and other initiatives stemming from the university’s new strategic plan.

”We are honored and humbled by Jay and Nancy’s generous investment in the life of AU,” said President John S. Pistole. “Their gift will help students lead informed and transformative lives impacting their worlds, just as Jay and Nancy have done in such significant ways.”

Jay and Nancy Ricker founded Ricker Oil Co. in 1979 in Middletown, Indiana. After amassing several convenience stores/gas stations, they moved their headquarters to Anderson and at one point, employed nearly 1,000 people throughout the company.

After selling their 57 Ricker properties, Jay and Nancy have focused on philanthropy toward several organizations in Madison County.

“Jay and Nancy Ricker exemplify the kind of servant-hearted leadership that we hope to inspire and encourage in the seniors we graduate each year,” said Dr. Brent Baker, vice president for advancement. “They have made a tremendous difference on our campus in a short amount of time, and they are as generous in spirit as they are in their financial support for the University. We are very grateful!”
