Our Commitment to Anti-Racism

As members of the Body of Christ, we must put ourselves to the task of doing everything in our influence to tear the structures of systemic racism down, brick by brick, and build a better and more equitable world.

Anderson University simply cannot fulfill its mission to educate for a life of faith and service in church and society without a genuine concern and action steps toward equality. This means that we need to examine ourselves first. We must ask hard questions about everything we do as a university. It won’t be easy, but taking on the task of this hard work is non-negotiable for us as a community.

We seek to honor God, and we desire lasting change. 

We recognize that the conversations surrounding racial justice that have been happening in classrooms over the years have not resulted in enough action. For that, we ask your forgiveness. Engaging in real-life conversations with our Ravens and understanding the flaws in how we communicate is essential for needed change with regard to racial injustice. Thank you for holding us accountable. Our leadership is in active discussions about ways to move the discussion beyond the classroom. Beginning today, we will communicate more intentionally through our blog about the steps we’re taking and educational resources for anti-racism.
