Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University’s School of Music, Theater, and Dance is hosting the first Raven Music Festival January 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in York Performance Hall.

The Raven Music Festival is an opportunity for students and community members to showcase their musical talents. Each performing artist or group will be reviewed by a group of SMTD faculty who will provide feedback, making this opportunity invaluable for those preparing for upcoming contests, auditions, and further musical pursuits.

The music festival is also an opportunity for local high school seniors to audition for the SMTD scholarship, as well as to receive feedback in preparation for college admission. High school seniors will perform for those preparing for upcoming contests, auditions, and further musical pursuits.

Following adjudication, middle and high school participants are invited to join AU’s admissions staff for a campus tour and lunch.

All participants will receive a medallion and personalized feedback from the judges. The day will culminate in the Raven Showcase, a highlight concert at 2:30 p.m., featuring notable performances selected by the adjudicators. Showcase performers will have an opportunity to win one of three scholarships awarded to top high school performers. All festival attendees and their families are welcome to enjoy this concert.

Participants may perform solos or join ensembles of up to eight members, with no restrictions on repertoire type. All instrumentalists, including those with non-traditional instruments, are encouraged to participate. Practice rooms will be available prior to performance times, and AU will provide a range of instruments and equipment to support performers. Performance times are capped at five minutes, with additional time for auditioning students.

The Raven Music Festival promises to be an inspiring day filled with music, learning, and community. AU invites all music enthusiasts to attend and celebrate the talents of aspiring musicians in the region.
