Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University recently named Dr. Brent Baker as its vice president for advancement. Baker previously served AU as the executive director of development.
Baker also served as vice president for student affairs/student life at AU from 2001 to 2016 before moving into advancement as a development officer for major gifts.
“After 15 years of serving on the student life side of the university, and then for a number of years as the executive director of development, I am pleased to have the opportunity to lead our fundraising efforts–in support of President Pistole–and in service to the mission of this place that I love,” said Baker. “It is a privilege to invite alumni and friends to be a part of the good things happening at Anderson University through their service, prayers and financial support. I am looking forward to a bright future at AU.”
He received his bachelor’s degree in business management from AU, a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Ball State University, and a PhD in educational leadership: higher education from Indiana State University. Baker’s career in higher education has spanned 30 years and, in addition to Anderson University, he has worked previously at Taylor University, Colorado Christian University, and Georgetown College.
“I’m pleased that Dr. Brent Baker has accepted this key position in helping us advance the mission of AU,” said President John S. Pistole. “Brent’s deep background, experience, and passion for AU will help us inspire generous donors to invest in the lives of students, faculty, and staff, both now and in the years to come.”
Baker, who graduated in 1985, has a long family history and tradition at Anderson University. His mother and father (Sandy and HL) met at AU as students and HL spent his entire professional career working at Anderson. Brent’s sister and three sons, Logan, Jordan, and Jared, also graduated from AU. Brent has a love for the university and its impact on students’ lives through many generations. His primary role now is to connect donors who share a passion for AU with meaningful giving opportunities.
