Scott David Deal, 64, of Heyworth, IL, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2023, with his family by his side.
He was born August 13, 1959 in Goshen, IN, to Robert and Marilyn (Butgereit) Deal, and grew up as a pastor’s son and playing sports with his three brothers. Scott graduated from Anderson College in 1982 with Biblical studies and computer science, and soon after married his love, Christine Wyant on November 26, 1983. Scott and Chris moved from Florida to Illinois in 1984 to begin their life together and have built roots deep in the community and church. Scott and Chris loved most to be with family, enjoy great meals and movie date nights, work many home projects together, and take long, adventurous, road trip vacations.
Scott was a man of God, dedicated to serving his family and church. To know him was to love him. Scott loved to solve a problem, teach the Word, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. You could find Scott doing his favorite things such as attending Cardinals games, playing pinball, collecting coins, and kayaking. Scott always enjoyed travel and exploring new places. Many trips focused on time with his family. In his years of fatherhood, Scott coached his sons in baseball and basketball, taught them how to fish, and spent time hiking and climbing.
Throughout the years, Scott has faithfully served the church as elder, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He had a successful career of 35 years with Hewlett Packard before enjoying retirement. In his later years, his life was enriched with being a Papa to four beautiful grandbabies, who adored him and followed him everywhere. In all he did, Scott’s faith stood firm, his testimony shown in the life he lived, and all the way to the end, he was ministering for Jesus. Scott longed for everyone to know the love and grace of God.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Christine Deal; children: Marcus (Lauren) Deal, Joshua (Valerie) Deal; grandchildren: Beckett, Nora, Levi, Andrew; parents, Robert and Marilyn Deal; siblings: Stan (Kim) Deal, Steve Deal, Skip (Sherri) Deal; mother-in-law, Nancy Wyant; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Bob) Burke, Karen Wyant; brother-in-law, Roland (Angela) Wyant; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in passing by his grandson, Sam Deal; and father-in-law, Harry Wyant.
