Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University is set to host the 60th anniversary annual Peace and Justice March across the 8th Street bridge on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 11 a.m.
Students, faculty, and staff will march from Reardon Auditorium to the city of Anderson’s Dickmann Town Center. Once at the Dickmann Town Center, members will participate in a ceremony crafted to honor the AU community members who started this tradition. Campus Pastor Josh Tandy will deliver a short message and there will be a time of worship.
Brian “B” Martin, director of the Center for Intercultural Engagement at AU, has coordinated this event to be both a time for students and for community members to participate. “This event is three-fold. First, the Peace and Justice March is to recognize and honor the people who did this march originally in 1965. We recognize their faith in God and their desire to improve racial equality. Second is to thank God for the progress in racial equality in our country,” Martin explains. “And third is to reaffirm our commitment as an institution to show respect and love to people of all races, ethnicities, and nationalities.”
