Illuminate: Christmas in the Valley Opens November 29

Anderson, Ind. — A new Christmas tradition will be introduced this holiday season at Anderson University. Illuminate: Christmas in the Valley is free and will take over the Valley beginning November 29 with the lighting ceremony. The lights will run through December 31 and be open to the public December 9-10 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Illuminate is designed to welcome the greater Anderson community to our campus to celebrate the holiday season with us,” said Scott Cagnet, dean of students. “This initiative will provide opportunities for our students, families from the community, and local organizations to enjoy spending time together surrounded by all the festive sights and sounds of Christmas.”

Visitors can journey through the Valley and enjoy a unique winter wonderland that will delight guests young and old. AU students, faculty, and staff are invited, along with their families, to the official lighting ceremony November 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Hot chocolate and treats will be available and live reindeer will be on site for guests to see.

Included in the December 9-10 weekend festivities are hot chocolate and treats, a holiday market, a visit from Santa Claus, and more.

Illuminate will be a place that you can bring your friends and family and experience the joy of the holiday season,” said Melissa Bond, director of student engagement. “Anderson University is so grateful to be in a community with businesses, churches, and people that provide a ‘home away from home’ for our students.”

Parking for the event will be available on campus and open lots will be marked. Overflow parking will be available at Park Place Church of God adjacent to campus.
