Cory Edwards is an esteemed 1990 graduate of Anderson University with a bachelor’s in mass communication, focusing on broadcasting, and a minor in art. For Edwards, AU wasn’t just a place of learning, it was a crucial step in his self-discovery, where his passions for filmmaking, faith, and personal growth converged.

“At AU, I found the space to explore all facets of my identity,” Edwards said. “As an artist, a Christian, and simply as a person, the campus provided a nurturing environment for holistic development.”

His journey at AU wasn’t solely focused on his aspiration to put his work on the big screen. Edwards eagerly seized the opportunity to try all the classes available and immerse himself in various clubs and activities.

“I treated my time at AU like a buffet, trying out different courses and experiences,” said Edwards. “It wasn’t just about acquiring skills; it was about cultivating a mindset of lifelong learning.”

Among his fondest memories of AU are exploring the world through Tri-S trips and international shoots with Covenant Productions. Additionally, his involvement in the Cheap Thrills variety show, akin to a miniature SNL, honed his creativity and production skills, leaving an indelible mark on his artistic journey.

Despite his unwavering passion for filmmaking and creative expression, Edwards acknowledges the value of diversifying his skill set, which reflects his approach to making the most out of his years at AU.

“In the entertainment industry, you’re constantly evolving,” Edwards said. “Being a lifelong learner is essential to staying relevant.”

Currently, Edwards is immersed in a multitude of projects that showcase his versatility and creativity. From writing screenplays for beloved characters like Woody Woodpecker, to collaborating on animated episodes for Greg Laurie’s “Jesus Revolution,” Edwards continues to make waves in the entertainment industry. Additionally, his stand-up comedy endeavors serve as a testament to his multifaceted talent and enduring passion for entertaining audiences.

Edwards said, “I still love to do stand-up from time to time. My most recent stand-up special is available on DryBarComedy.com. I hope people will check it out!”

As Edwards continues to carve his path in the world of entertainment, his journey remains intertwined with the foundational experiences and values instilled during his time at AU. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and lifelong learners alike, reminding us that the pursuit of one’s passions is a journey worth embarking on.
