Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University is set to host its annual Spring Into Dance program Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Reardon Auditorium.

“The concert will be a stellar event, which is fitting as the final main stage concert with dance as a major at Anderson University. We are affectionately calling it, ‘Spring into Dance: The Finale,’” says Christine Thacker, assistant professor of dance at AU.

Anderson University’s dance students will be presenting pieces from a range of genres. These include classical ballet, jazz, hypnotic modern dance, and tap.

“Spring Into Dance is a collective of repertoire dance pieces created by AU dance faculty and guest choreographers. This year’s guest choreographer is Randall Flinn, of the acclaimed Ad Deum Christian Dance Company,” explains Thacker.

Randall Flinn has taught and choreographed as a guest artist at the Houston Ballet Academy, the Episcopal High School, Houston Met Dance Company, and Joan Karff Dance Company. Flinn has also served as guest faculty and choreographer for Cirque Du Soleil’s-Alegria, Ballet Magnificat, Belhaven University, Friends University, Project Dance NYC, LA, and Sydney, Australia.

“If I were to sum up the theme of the concert,” says Thacker, “ it would be ‘Celebration’. We will be on stage celebrating the grace, strength, and beauty, that is dance. We will be on stage celebrating our dance alumni who have been invited to come back and join us as our special guests in the audience. We will be celebrating everything that AU dance has achieved in the past 20 years, from bringing amazing international talent to our campus, to creating the Diversity Dance Festival, to having a 90% graduate placement rate in our industry, to providing our dancers with stellar performance opportunities like performing at the Kennedy Center. We are hoping everyone will come and join us for this last main stage production and celebrate.”

Tickets can be purchased online and are $15 for adults, $12 for military, and $7 for non-AU students. For more information call 765-641-4140 or email studentdance@anderson.edu.
