Carrie Becker Brown Endowed Scholarship

The Carrie Becker Brown Endowed Scholarship Fund is aimed at nurturing students with the same caring spirit as that of the fund’s namesake. Brown was a gifted caretaker who met the needs of her family, community, and those in need with extraordinary generosity. A relational woman who made a lasting impression on countless lives, Brown serves as a radiant example for social work students and servant-hearted individuals. The family honoring Brown in this way say that it was from her that they “learned the value of honesty, faithfulness, devotedness, and hard work.” The scholarship is meant to lift students on their own faith-filled journey of service and social work.

Amount: This scholarship amount varies year over year with the recent historical average being $2,700. It can combined with other scholarships.

Eligibility:

• Must be a junior entering their senior year.
• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Has shown initiative in exploring the field of social work by volunteering or working in social services beyond the normal requirements (i.e. internships) of the social work program.
• Is an active leader or participant in the AU community.
• Demonstrates a commitment to social justice and betterment of the world.
• Is highly likely to enter the social work profession or an MSW program upon graduation.
