Rachel Janet Kaster Ramsey, 83, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community, following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Youngstown, to the late Benjamin Sr. and Esther Johnson Kaster.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and then went to Anderson University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree in social work from University of Southern Indiana.
She was a nurse and social worker in the community for 34 years and retired in 2018.
She was a member of Cross Roads Global Methodist Church, where she loved attending. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was a volunteer at Primrose Retirement Community for many years. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Scot (Xin), Cindy and Shawn; two sisters, Karen and Esther; three grandchildren, Honor (Jason), Noah and Riley; four great-grandchildren, Norah, Silas, Sawyer and Miles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Ramsey in 2018; two sisters, Donna and Kaye; and two brothers, David and Benjamin Jr.
