James Moore

The Rev. James Moore, 86, passed away peacefully Feb. 20, 2024, at home. 

Jim was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Eustis, to the Rev. Luther and Oleta Moore. He graduated from Eustis High School, and then Anderson University with degrees in Bible and theology, and music.

Jim married his childhood sweetheart, Gerrilee Carlton, April 20, 1957, and passed away just short of their 67th anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Gerrilee; sons Mike (Sherry) Moore, Mitch (Polly) Moore and Martin (Jennifer) Moore; daughter Merrilee (Brian) Berry; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Sandra (HL) Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pastor, serving congregations in Lakeland, DeLand and High Springs, and in Lima, Ohio, for more than 50 years of his ministry.

He generously loved people and was known for his smile, and as a great musician and piano player.
