Courtney Hope Anderson

Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Courtney Hope Anderson, of Mount Horeb, Wis., passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Born on Sept. 21, 1976, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Wayne and Faith Keene, she was raised in Vero Beach, Fla., along with her brother, Kyle.
A graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1995, Courtney proceeded to attend Anderson University, in Anderson, Ind., where she obtained her B.A. in early education. She would later pursue a Master’s in Special Needs Education, realizing her passion for this niche form of teaching. These special students always had a sentimental spot in her heart.
Courtney, and her growing family of three, moved to Mount Horeb in 2007. She gave birth to two more children, settled into raising them full-time, and became involved in the community. After all three children were of school age, Courtney took on work as a special needs teacher for the Mount Horeb and Wisconsin Heights School Districts. After many years in these school districts, she changed her career path and worked at American Family Insurance in Cross Plains.
Her three children were the center of her being. Courtney made sure their happiness came first. Whether it was shuttling them to sports practices or games, checking in with them about helping with their homework, or providing them with an open door, no judgement zone for conversations, she made sure they knew they were loved, unconditionally. Every time one of her kids walked into the room she was in, Courtney made sure they were greeted with a smile.
Courtney enjoyed many circles of friends, each circle having their own, unique circumference. However, the common denominator was laughter. No matter who she was socializing with, there was always laughter, even through tears.
In March 2020, Courtney was surprisingly diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer. As in many aspects of her life, Courtney stood up against this adversity. She found the best doctors in the state to figure out a plan of attack. She called upon her support units to see her through this challenging time, as well. For a while, it appeared the treatments were getting the best of this cancer. Sadly, things took a turn in April 2022 and by mid-May, Courtney made the decision to suspend chemo and radiation treatments. She wanted to depart our world on her terms.
Courtney is survived by her children, Hayden Anderson, Cullen Anderson, and Maggie Grace Anderson, and their father, Michael Anderson; parents, Wayne and Faith Keene; and brother, Kyle Keene, plus her brother-in-law (to be), Charles Lindsay.
