AU + Daon Pressing Questions: Answered

The partnership with Anderson University and Daon, a global leader in biometrics was announced on Tuesday regarding a health screening solution to prevent COVID-19 cases on campus. A virtual press conference was held on June 10. President of AU, John Pistole and CEO of Daon, Tom Grissen gave brief introductions and expressed excitement on this premiere partnership. The rest of the hour long conference was covered by a Q&A portion from guests.

Several of the questions from guests included concerns with privacy and how this will be implemented on the university campus when reconvened in the fall. “We’ll ask everyone to do it on a daily basis,” said Pistole. “We are asking everyone use this on a volunteer basis.” He also mentions that those who choose not to participate could potentially put themselves at an “elevated risk.” He continues, “We want to have a trusted community where not only are students looking out for others but looking out for others.”

Grissen answered questions regarding how information will be shared and disseminated on the app. “We consider any personal or biometric data to be private,” he said. “We use the most advanced technologies to protect it.”
