Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University and President John S. Pistole announced that Dr. Courtney Taylor has been selected as the university’s new Provost.

“I’m excited to welcome Dr. Taylor to our senior leadership team,” said Pistole. “He’s a highly respected faculty member who has been a key driver of several high profile initiatives, helping AU navigate current and future challenges and opportunities.”

A 12-member Provost Search Committee was tasked with reviewing, interviewing, and recommending final candidates from 24 original applicants. The Committee tendered a recommendation to offer the Provost position to Taylor as follows:

“It is the consensus of the committee to recommend Dr. Courtney Taylor as the top candidate for the Provost position. Intellectual humility, analytical skill, collaborative style, Church of God background, and intimate knowledge of the University distinguished him as a candidate.”

Taylor is a graduate of Anderson University (B.A. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry), and Purdue University (M.S. Mathematics, Ph.D. Mathematics). He joined the AU faculty in 2011 after serving as an assistant professor of mathematics at North Greenville University. Taylor is the current department chair of mathematics, director of the Lilly Foundation Charting the Future Grant, and advisor to the Dativus social club.

“I am drawn to this position because of my connection to Anderson University, with a deep and abiding love for its people and mission,” said Taylor. “In my years of working alongside fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I have learned that the best way to lead is to serve.”

His previous service includes being a mentor to new faculty, analysis of the university scholarship pricing grid, serving as a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee, First Year Experience Advisory Council, small group leader for spiritual life, and accreditation team member. He is an active member of Eastside Church of God where he served on their Board of Trustees, and a college life group leader.

Dr. Taylor’s first day as Provost will be June 6, 2022.
