Coronavirus: GPA Requirements
Good afternoon,
One of the things that makes Anderson University stand apart from other institutions is that all traditional AU undergraduate students are eligible for an institutional merit scholarship. Those scholarships come with certain criteria for renewal, some of them requiring a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Given the transition that COVID-19 has brought upon many of our students, we’d like to take a bit of stress off your shoulders.
We are going to waive the GPA requirement for scholarship renewal for the 2020-2021 academic year. This means that if you fell below a 3.0 cumulative GPA your scholarship will not decrease to a lower level. Although you will not be required to maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew your merit scholarship, you will still need to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). This policy can be found on our website at https://anderson.edu/
Recently, the university sent information to you regarding changing a course from a graded course to a credit or no-credit course. If you feel that your GPA may be impacted negatively from being off-campus due to COVID-19, you may be eligible for this option. The deadline for choosing credit/no-credit is May 29. Once this deadline has expired, our office will run the SAP process and notify students who do not meet the requirements. Students will have an option to appeal that will be outlined in the letter.
We will begin packaging financial aid after June 5. You will receive an email from our office once your financial aid package is ready for you to view on AccessAU.
We understand how moving to remote learning can be challenging to some and, hopefully, this temporary policy change will put you and your family at ease. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy change, please do not hesitate to contact our office at finaid@anderson.edu or you may contact me directly.
Stay well,
Chris Maggart
