PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE POLICY
Anderson University (“Anderson”) uses photographs, photographic images, names, and audio or video recordings of students, faculty, and staff for general publicity purposes. These materials may appear in university publications, on the official website, on social media platforms, and in public relations, promotional, advertising, or marketing materials, among others.
As a practical matter, Anderson is not able to obtain individual release forms from every person who appears in images or recordings captured on campus or at university-sponsored events off campus.
By agreeing to be subject to the policies outlined in the Student, Faculty, or Employee Handbooks, you (or, for students under the age of 18, your parent or guardian) have consented to the use of your image, name, and/or voice by Anderson University and have waived any related claims or rights, unless you choose to opt out as outlined below.
Students, faculty, or staff who do not wish to be photographed, recorded, or have their names, voices, or other personal identifiers used in university materials must notify Anderson’s Office of Marketing and Communications in writing to opt out.
Anderson will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of individuals who have opted out to avoid areas where photography or recording is taking place or to inform the photographer or videographer of their decision so they can be identified and excluded whenever possible.
Failure to take such steps may result in inclusion in university media. In such cases, it will be considered implied consent and equivalent to a release, allowing Anderson University to use the photograph or recording at its discretion.
