Fireside Chat with Sen. and Mrs. Dan Coats
Carroll Leadership Lecture Series invites campus and community to a conversation on faith and leadership.
Anderson University will host a Fireside Chat with Senator and Mrs. Dan Coats on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Reardon Lobby. The event is part of the Dennis D. Carroll and Emily Govan Carroll Leadership Lecture Series, which highlights voices of integrity, service, and faith-driven leadership.
The conversation honors the release of the Coats’ new memoir, From Generation to Generation: Lessons for Tomorrow. During the program, Senator and Mrs. Coats will read select passages from their book, followed by questions from a moderator and an audience Q&A session. Their reflections offer timeless lessons about purpose, family, and leadership rooted in Christian values.
Senator Dan Coats has served Indiana and the nation with distinction in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as well as in various ambassadorial and advisory roles. Throughout his career, he has been known for his faith, humility, and bipartisan approach to public service. Mrs. Marsha Coats has shared in that mission through her own leadership in education and community engagement, mentoring others to serve with conviction and compassion.
Together, their lives and stories embody the spirit of the Carroll Leadership Lecture Series—demonstrating that leadership begins with character and is sustained by faith. The couple’s conversation will explore how those principles have guided them through decades of service, while encouraging others to pursue purposeful living and civic responsibility.
This special event is free and open to AU students, faculty, staff, and the public. No RSVP is required. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and seating. Attendees are also invited to share this opportunity with friends, colleagues, and members of the local community.
The Fireside Chat offers a unique opportunity for meaningful dialogue with two leaders whose example continues to inspire future generations. Their message aligns with Anderson University’s mission to educate students for lives of faith and service, shaping a new generation of thoughtful and compassionate leaders.
