2025 CEO of the Year & C-Suite Awards Honor Johnna Barnard
Anderson University MBA alumna recognized for leadership at Remodel Health
Johnna Barnard, BA ’13, MBA ’17, chief customer officer at Remodel Health, has been named a 2025 CEO of the Year & C-Suite Awards honoree in recognition of her leadership during a period of rapid organizational growth. The award highlights executives who demonstrate excellence in strategy, culture building, and results.
As a member of Remodel Health’s executive team, Barnard played a key role in scaling the technology company during a time of significant expansion. Remodel Health, which helps organizations assess and choose health plans, grew from serving 8,000 members to more than 120,000. During that same period, annual recurring revenue increased from $5 million to $65 million, and the company’s workforce expanded from 30 employees to more than 225.
Barnard leads operational, human resources, compliance, and account management teams. Under her leadership, the company achieved a 94% net revenue retention rate, exceeding industry standards by 10%. These results reflect a strong balance of growth and stability during a demanding phase of development.
One of the biggest challenges Barnard faced was maintaining quality while scaling the organization. As revenue, membership, and team size increased, systems and leadership capacity were stretched. Barnard addressed this by restructuring operations around scalable processes, developing new leaders, and strengthening alignment across departments. Her approach helped ensure consistency while supporting continued growth.
Barnard’s career path reflects a commitment to service and purpose-driven leadership. After earning her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership: business administration, management, and operations, she began her professional journey in sales and service. She then moved into the nonprofit sector, where she served women in crisis at Dove Harbor transitional housing ministry. She describes this experience as formative, igniting a passion for servant leadership.
She later transitioned into higher education, serving as director of admissions and director of enrollment at Harrison College. Barnard went on to hold several roles at Anderson University before joining Remodel Health in 2020.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Barnard is active in the community. She supports several nonprofit organizations, including Alternatives Inc. and The Christian Center in Anderson, as well as Stability First in Martinsville. She also regularly mentors and coaches young professionals.
Barnard describes her leadership style as servant-minded and growth-oriented. She emphasizes trust, accountability, and purpose as essential elements of strong teams. Her advice to other leaders is to remain solutions-focused and approach challenges as opportunities to learn, noting that leadership requires curiosity, adaptability, and the courage to lead with both head and heart.
“The foundation I built at Anderson shaped how I think about strategy. A successful strategy is a disciplined commitment to vision, culture, and measurable results. Sustainable growth happens when you align people around purpose, build a culture of accountability and trust, and execute with clarity. This recognition reflects the collective work of an incredible team and the power of culture-driven performance.” – Johnna Barnard ’13, MBA ’17
