Anderson University StringFest is open to qualified string students (Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass). Join us, and develop the necessary skills for a successful career as a string player. This camp experience was developed by Gert Kumi, Violin Professor at Anderson University, with the desire to prepare students for a career in music. Students will have the opportunity to learn and perform alongside world-class faculty and participate in technique classes and recitals in the state-of-the-art York Performance Hall.

There will be daily evening activities including recitals, sessions on orchestral playing and much more! In addition, there will be lots of fun activities like games and movies.

CANCELLED Camp 2 is offered both as a day camp and for residential campers.

Camp 1 (residential)  $695 includes instruction, housing, and all meals

Sibling discount available. $50 off each additional sibling.

9 – 10 a.m. Individual Practice
10 – 11 a.m. Individual String Quartet Practice
11 – 12 p.m. String Quartet Coaching by the Faculty
12 p.m. Lunch
1 – 3 p.m. Afternoon Session* and Master-Class
3 – 3:30 p.m. Break
3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Orchestra Rehearsal
6 – 7 p.m. Dinner
7 – 9 p.m. Evening Session*

*Afternoon/Evening sessions will focus on different subjects including Ensemble Playing, Individual Technique, Practicing, Sight-Reading, Improvisation on Acoustic and Electric Instruments, etc.

What is Anderson University StringFest?
This is an extraordinary musical experience designed specifically for students. The unique program was developed by Anderson University music string faculty and is sponsored by Anderson University.

Who can attend the Anderson University StringFest?
Any student interested in improving their level of playing should register for this camp.

Should I bring my instrument?
Absolutely! Several opportunities will be available for students to rehearse, perform, or just jam with the other students at the camp.

Will I need additional money during the camp?
Students may want to bring additional money for extra snacks or bookstore items.

What type of lodging is provided?
Housing is on the beautiful Anderson University campus. Each dorm room accommodates two students and we will attempt to honor any roommate requests. Students will be issued a swipe card for entrance to Morrison Hall and an individual room key. (Note: a $50 charge will be assessed for each room key not returned at the end of camp.)

Are linens provided?
You may bring your own linens to camp or linen service will be provided by the university at an additional charge.

What safety provisions have been made?
University police and security will be present on campus at all times. Dormitory doors are locked at all times. Students are provided with a swipe card for the dormitory building entrance and a key for individual rooms.

What is camp’s policy on discipline?
All camp participants will be provided with rules of conduct and are expected to adhere to these rules. Any student who violates these policies will be sent home immediately.

Is there a dress code?
All of our buildings are air-conditioned, so students will want to dress appropriately. Also, clothing should not display any questionable writing or design that would be offensive to the guidelines of Anderson University.

Where will the StringFest be held?
Anderson University StringFest will take place in the Krannert Fine Arts Building on the campus of Anderson University in Anderson, Ind. (35 miles northeast of Indianapolis).
