TEACHING DEGREE

Music EDUCATION

The music education major at Anderson University provides students with the musical knowledge and pedagogical skills needed for a career. Students who complete this program are licensed by the state of Indiana to teach music. They are highly effective at teaching musical concepts and at conducting and rehearsing musical ensembles to prepare them for performances.

Tomorrow's  teachers are getting prepared right here.

Inspring the next generation with the power of music.

Music education transcends learning notes and rhythms; it fosters emotional intelligence, cognitive abilities, confidence, creativity, and teamwork. It enhances academic performance and develops empathy and cultural awareness. By engaging in music, students become well-rounded, innovative individuals, equipped with the skills and values essential for personal and professional success. Investing in music education is an investment in a brighter, more harmonious future.

Music teachers bring invaluable expertise, passion, and mentorship to their students, guiding them through the complexities of musical theory and practice. They inspire and challenge students, nurturing their talents and helping them overcome obstacles. Teachers create a supportive and stimulating environment where students can explore their creativity and develop their unique musical voices. Their dedication not only cultivates technical skills but also instills a lifelong love for music, encouraging students to pursue their passions and achieve their full potential.

      Explore TEACH Grants

Anderson University participates in the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant program. A TEACH grant is a non-need-based grant provided to students who intend to teach, in order to help pay for their postsecondary education.

As a condition for receiving a TEACH grant, a student must agree to teach full-time for at least four years as a highly qualified teacher in a high-need field, in a school or educational service agency (ESA) serving low-income students, within eight years of completing or otherwise ceasing to be enrolled in the program of study for which the student received the grant.

If the student does not meet the TEACH grant service obligation terms, all TEACH grant funds received will be converted to a direct unsubsidized loan that must be repaid in full, with interest charged from the date of each TEACH grant disbursement.

At Anderson University, TEACH grants are offered to undergraduates who meet the 3.25 GPA requirement and have been admitted into the teacher preparation program (TPP). The Department of Teacher Education director approves the TEACH grant for each year a student applies.
