Overview
Civil engineering is for students interested in solving engineering problems around public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, dams, levees, and construction projects. These students will be involved in big projects that will get them out in the field, interacting with construction managers, surveyors, and contractors.
Students will experience a wide range of topics in structural analysis and design, water resources and design, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and surveying, with plenty of hands-on laboratory experiences.
Explore Civil Engineering
Our communities are built and sustained by civil engineers. Our students can dream big, and even better, they can realize those dreams and improve our society in the process. AU offers access to engineering lab spaces, equipment, and experiences from day one, meaning students will graduate with a four year degree and more than enough hands-on experience to enter the workforce prepared to make an immediate impact.
Options
- Graduate with a BS in Civil Engineering in four years.
- Explore a double major in Civil Engineering as your primary and Humanitarian Engineering as a complementary major.
- Complete the 4+1 program, from BS to MBA.
ABET Accreditation
AU will seek the same professional accreditation as Big Ten, public universities once the first class of civil engineers graduates in 2027. Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review accreditation process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines. ABET accreditation is awarded to engineering programs where quality, precision, and safety are of the utmost importance. Anderson University’s Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Engineering earnings soar!
Each year, engineering professionals receive the highest average starting salary in the United States. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that employment within the engineering field will multiply into 140,000 new jobs over the next decade. So what does this mean for you? It means that a career in engineering is well worth the time and effort needed to earn your degree.
