Dr. Gilmar Cavalcante

Trumpet

Dr. Gilmar Cavalcante is a Brazilian trumpet player, teacher, and music entrepreneur. He earned a Doctor of Arts from Ball State University, a Masters of Music Performance from Valdosta State University, a Certificate of Specialist in Music Education from Universidade Candido Mende,s and a Bachelor of Music-Trumpet Performance from Universidade Federal da Paraiba- Joao Pessoa, Brazil.

As a performer, Dr. Cavalcante has experience in both popular and classical styles and has appeared in Brazil and the United States in groups including Joao Pessoa Symphony Orchestra, Campina Jazz Band (Brazil), Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, Anderson Symphony Orchestra, and Manchester Symphony Orchestra. He has also presented in conferences such as the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) and has published articles in journals such as the ITG and the Brazilian Trombone Association Journal (BTAJ).

As a teacher eager to serve students, he has edited, translated, expanded, and reissued the publication of trumpet method books, and albums to serve as performance references for trumpet players around the world, and still has projects in trumpet performance and pedagogy. Including his own trumpet method book, an album with new works for trumpet, and projects in the music entrepreneurial field.

Through his contributions, Dr. Cavalcante expects to continue helping students, teachers, and other performers.
