Coronavirus Update: Campus Housing March 20

AU Students, Faculty, Staff, and Parents –

Yesterday, authorities in Madison County, in partnership with the Madison County Health Department, declared a Travel Watch, meaning that “conditions are threatening to the safety of the public.” Non-essential travel is restricted.

In cooperation with this declaration, we will not grant access for students to pick up their belongings at this time. Please do not return to campus as building will be locked down as a public health precaution.

This may cause great angst and uncertainty for you, and we want to support you as best we can. We will develop a plan for a better, safer option in the future. With the rapidly changing landscape of this crisis, we want to gather as much information as possible before announcing a new system. Thank you for your patience as we work through these details.

Students who were granted a waiver to “shelter in place” at AU will be allowed to stay.

I leave you with this passage of Scripture that brings me great comfort:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

We are praying for all of you in this turbulent time.
