Learn to Swim

For more than 50 years, Madison County has enjoyed learning to swim at Bennett Natatorium on the Anderson University campus.  From parent and tot classes to learning strokes and water safety, AU provides 5 levels of skill development.

Private Lessons

AU Aquatics offers private swim lessons with our staff as well as competitive private lessons for your age group or high school swimmer.  Develop your skills in a one-on-one or small group setting.

You can set up private lessons by calling 765-641-4496 or email jrscott@anderson.edu

Pre-competitive

Finished with our swimming lesson program (level IV) or already know how to…

  • Swim freestyle for 25 yards (one length of the pool),
  • Swim backstroke for 25 yards (one length of the pool), and
  • Submerge and push off the wall underwater and glide for a distance of 3 body lengths, surface, and then return to the starting wall using any style?

Our pre-competitive program is like competitive swimming lessons.  Kids have the opportunity to practice up to twice a week, learning all four competitive strokes, starts, turns and finishes as well as more about the sport and what it takes to join a competitive club program or school team.  Even if participants never swim competitively, they will learn to swim more efficiently and further which means safer and more confident swimmers for life.
