Elizabeth Burrell

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Knight) Burrell ’63, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away January 7, 2021, at home surrounded by her daughters following a brief illness with cancer, and is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born on June 10, 1937, in Turkey Creek, Florida, to Wesley and Flora (Royster) Knight.

Betty graduated from Turkey Creek High School and then came to Anderson (College) University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She continued on to receive her Master of Arts in Education from Ball State University in 1965. She was an elementary school teacher who taught at Edgewood, Daleville, and retired from Shenandoah Elementary School in 1994. She was a member of East Side Church of God and Chesterfield Church of God, and was very active with the church throughout her life.

Betty had many friends throughout the years and wanted to thank her Sulphur Springs Elementary School Retired Teachers Friends Club, Chesterfield Church of God friends, East Side Church of God friends, neighborhood Charleston Commons friends, and the mall walkers friends. She enjoyed staying active throughout her life.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Burrell and Deb (Roy) Losch; three grandchildren, Katelyn Losch, Ethan Losch, and Emma Losch; Joan Ratzlaff, who was her lifelong best friend from the beginning of college throughout her life; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lorenzo Knight and Walter Knight; and sister-in-law, Margene Burrell.
