Women’s Philanthropy Council

The Women’s Philanthropy Council – Making a meaningful impact by serving the Anderson University campus and community.

The purpose of the Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) is to engage and inspire support and investment in Anderson University and AU students. The Council offers opportunities to gather, network, and combine resources for maximum impact to tackle challenges both large and small, in an effort to support Anderson University’s mission in addressing the things that are important to AU, the students, and the donors.

Together, we can create positive, meaningful change.

Today's Dreams are tomorrow's reality.

In October 2022, the Anderson University Women’s Philanthropy Council was officially launched at their inaugural annual dinner and meeting during Homecoming week. The group was started with 61 founding members…alumni, current and retired faculty and staff members, AU parents, community members from Anderson and Madison County, and more…all of whom have a heart for Anderson University and want to make a difference in the lives of AU students.

The Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) is led by eleven charter members who helped take the initiative from a dream to reality. These members not only made the crucial decisions needed to form the group and launch the initiative but also continue to give ongoing oversight. In addition, there are three co-chairs who give guidance to the work being done by this generous and dedicated group.

No matter the role each member plays within the council, much has already been accomplished! By pooling all of their membership gifts together and voting on which projects to fund, the Women’s Philanthropy Council is able to make a much bigger impact. Plus, the council is able to get more involved with the process of making this impact!

“I love being part of the Women’s Philanthropy Council! We support the AU community both practically and personally, funding innovative student, faculty, and staff projects that address real needs. It’s inspiring to see these ideas come to life! On the personal side, WPC fosters meaningful connections—whether encouraging students during finals or welcoming families on move-in day. Serving together creates a special camaraderie, and it’s a joy to help today’s Ravens build their own cherished AU memories.”

Sandy McCurdy, WPC Member

“I chose to join the Women’s Philanthropy Council because of how it is set up. First, I enjoy that we review proposals submitted from across the campus for projects that couldn’t happen without a transformative gift. We are able to vote on the proposals and select how our annual dues will be used to impact a change for the community. Second, I like that there are opportunities to serve and volunteer on campus. I just joined this year, and it’s been an exciting first year!”
