What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), sometimes called an IRA charitable rollover, allows eligible individuals to transfer funds directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charitable organization, such as Anderson University.
Because the gift goes directly from your IRA to Anderson University, the distribution is generally excluded from your taxable income. For many donors, this can be a tax-efficient way to support the causes they care about.
Who Can Make an IRA Charitable Gift?
You may qualify if:
- You are 70½ years of age or older.
- You have a traditional IRA.
- The gift is transferred directly from your IRA custodian to Anderson University.
Benefits of an IRA Charitable Gift
- May avoid taxes on transfers from your IRA to Anderson University.
- May satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), if one applies.
- May reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
- Allows you to further the work and mission of Anderson University without using other assets.
- Can make an immediate impact on current students.
