Questions about naming a squirrel
What should I name my squirrel?
It’s your chance to be creative! How about “Helios Harbormaster”? It can be ridiculous and punny or a heartfelt tribute – the possibilities are endless!
Is there anything I can’t name my squirrel?
While we welcome creative and fun name ideas, we also want to be respectful of the squirrels who call our Valley home. For that reason, all submissions will be reviewed to make sure names are appropriate and in good taste. Please keep suggestions kind, thoughtful, and suitable for all audiences.
But which squirrel is actually mine?
While the impact of your gift is very real, this is a symbolic naming. Your chosen squirrel will forever be etched into the grand (imaginary) Book of AU Squirrel Names, but you are not actually naming a specific squirrel.
As an Official Squirrel Namer, you do earn the unquestioned right to point to any squirrel on campus, at any time, and proudly call it by whatever name you choose. No one will be allowed to refute your claim.
How much does it cost to name a squirrel?
The cost to name a squirrel is $26 or more. Along with that, you will receive an official squirrel certificate with the name selected.
What if I named a squirrel last year?
Even if you named a squirrel last year, you can name another one this year! Name a squirrel in honor of an AU friend, or your old roommate! Honor a favorite faculty member or coach. You got to be a part of the naming hype last year, help us invite more of the Raven community into our fun!
How do I let you know the name I chose?
When you make your gift online, include your squirrel name in the “Name A Squirrel” section of the giving form, right below your name and address. Our Rodent Respect Authority Squad will review names. Be clever, be kind.
If I make a gift, can my company match it?
Yes, many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. See if your employer will match your gift.
