AU Creates New Commuter’s Corner Space

Anderson, Ind. — With nearly 40 percent of its student population registering as commuter students, Anderson University has created a new space specifically designed for those students. The Commuter’s Corner is a brand-new space in the Nicholson Library that will give commuter students a home on campus during their down times between classes.

“We are pleased to offer this space to our commuter students,” said Heather Kim, vice president for enrollment, marketing, and communication. “This group has unique challenges other students don’t, such as where to keep their day’s textbooks, sports gear, where to store their backpacks during the day, and where to warm up their lunch. Thankfully, Dr. Janet Brewer has thought of all that in designing this new Commuter’s Corner.”

Commuters who come to AU from Madison County and beyond will now have a place to keep their belongings, eat their lunch, study, and more while on campus. The Commuter’s Corner will have lockers, microwaves, and new furniture. In addition, Anderson University Food Service recently announced a $8 commuter rate for lunch at The Marketplace on Wednesdays. The rate also applies to adult students at AU.

“We are really excited about creating a space for our commuter students in the Nicholson Library,” said Brewer. “It’s a place where they can connect, collaborate, study, and just hang out.”
