Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University sophomore, Elliandra Gonzalez ’24, has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship from Independent Colleges of Indiana that was funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. The “Realizing the Dream” program recognizes students who are the first to attend college in their families.

“First-generation student scholarships, such as ICI’s Realizing the Dream, are vital in helping families fund the goal of obtaining a college degree,” said Heather Kim, vice president for enrollment, marketing, and communication.

“This scholarship means so much to me,” said Gonzalez. “I honestly never thought I would be the one to receive it, but I am incredibly honored. Being able to put it towards my tuition is such a blessing.”

Gonzalez is a sophomore from Hobart, Indiana, and Indiana Connections Academy. At AU, she majors in commercial music business, and has a cognate in social media and brand management.

“My AU experience has been a good one,” said Gonzalez. “I have had the opportunity to learn more about the craft and industry I love and am passionate about. The community I am surrounded by is uplifting and I have made some lifelong friends.”

ICI recognized Gonzalez for her “outstanding achievement” during her freshman year at AU.
