Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University is ready to light up its beloved Valley with Christmas cheer this winter. Illuminate: Christmas in the Valley is a new Christmas lights spectacular hosted by the university that will run through the holiday season for guests.

“Illuminate is designed to welcome the greater Anderson community to our campus to celebrate the holiday season with us,” said Scott Cagnet, dean of students. “This initiative will provide opportunities for our students, families from the community, and local organizations to enjoy spending time together surrounded by all the festive sights and sounds of Christmas.”

The event will light up AU’s campus with Christmas lights on buildings and monuments beginning Nov. 30 and will run through the holiday season. Illuminate will be free of charge, but guests will be able to make donations if they feel led to.

Illuminate will also serve as a complement to long-standing AU traditions and events such as Candles and Carols, athletic contests, and alumni visits.

“Illuminate will be a place that you can bring your friends and family and experience the joy of the holiday season,” said Melissa Bond, director of student engagement. “Anderson University is so grateful to be in a community with businesses, churches, and people that provide a ‘home away from home’ for our students.”

Window Genie will help make the event a reality by installing the lights each year.
