Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University will hold its annual Commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. May 7 in the Kardatzke Wellness Center (KWC). This year’s ceremony will once again combine aspects of Baccalaureate and Commencement into one celebration.

“All of us at Anderson University are excited to congratulate our 2022 graduates and their families and friends,” said Anderson University President John S. Pistole. “We’re looking forward to hearing from our dynamic Commencement speaker, Dr. Priscilla Archangel, along with Andrew Miller, the Associate Teaching Pastor at Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis as our Baccalaureate speaker.”

Archangel is a new AU Board of Trustee member and is a seasoned executive coach, leadership and organizational development consultant, author, speaker, and teacher.  She held a variety of strategic, global human resource executive roles at GM, a Fortune 10 company, over the course of her 30-plus year career. She focused on leadership development, talent management, talent acquisition, coaching, change management, culture change, performance management, organization development, and HR operations.

Miller and his wife, Lauren, relocated to Indiana from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was a church youth pastor for nearly ten years. Miller earned a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Fuller. Miller is passionate about sharing the gospel, making disciples, and equipping leaders in the local church.

“Three honorary degrees will be presented,” said Pistole. “One to the Honorable Judge Dennis Carroll, one to Mary Beth Chapman, and the other to Archangel.”

Judge Carroll is an alum, long time AU trustee, and Madison County senior judge. Upon his retirement in 2015, Carroll received a number of awards and recognitions for his 35 years of judicial and community service to include the Sagamore of the Wabash, the Anderson Rotary and Madison County Bar Dickmann Volunteer of the Year Award, and along with his wife Emily, the AU Reithmiller Community Partnership Award and the National Exchange Club’s Book of Golden Deeds Award.

Mary Beth Chapman, of Franklin, Tennessee, is an AU alum and a bestselling author, speaker, and the wife of GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning recording artist, Steven Curtis Chapman, also an alum. Mary Beth is the president of Show Hope, an internationally recognized voice for orphan advocacy that she co-founded with her husband.

There will not be a limit to the number of guests per graduate and masks will be optional. Anderson University will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 and will announce any changes to protocols online.
