Anderson University is proud to celebrate Jay B. Ricker, chair of the AU Board of Trustees, on his induction into the Indiana Academy. This honor recognizes his lifetime of service to communities across the state and the many ways his leadership has strengthened organizations and individuals throughout Indiana.

Four new members were welcomed into the Indiana Academy during its 54th annual gala on November 3 at Hotel Carmichael in Carmel. Founded in 1970, the Academy promotes the advancement of private higher education in Indiana through the support of Independent Colleges of Indiana and its member institutions. New members are selected by the Board of Regents from nominations submitted by current Academy members or presidents of ICI institutions.

Elaine Bedel, chair of the Indiana Academy Board of Regents, spoke to the significance of the 2025 class. “This year’s inductees remind us how powerful one person’s leadership and generosity can be,” she said. “Their passion for education and service continues to spark positive change and inspires others to invest in Indiana’s future.”

Ricker, an entrepreneur, civic leader, and philanthropist, has long shaped Indiana’s business landscape. Alongside his wife, Nancy, he founded Ricker Oil Company and guided it into one of the state’s most successful family-owned enterprises. His leadership has also extended beyond the industry, influencing major national associations and supporting community needs in Madison County. A strong advocate for education and the arts, he has supported organizations such as Conner Prairie, the Paramount Theatre, and Anderson University.

At AU, Ricker’s service reflects generosity, steady guidance, and a deep belief in the mission of Anderson University as a different kind of Christian university. His philanthropy has strengthened several areas of campus life, including the Jay and Nancy Ricker Center for Security Studies and Cyber Defense. This commitment has expanded opportunities for students to develop important skills in a critical and growing field while enhancing AU’s academic programs.

Ricker’s induction into the Indiana Academy reflects the character, leadership, and heart he brings to every role he holds. AU is grateful for his faithful service and is honored to see his impact recognized across the state. Congratulations to Jay Ricker on this well-deserved achievement.
