Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University will have two representatives in the 2025 Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) Leadership Academy cohort. Scott Cagnet, dean of students, and Trent Palmer, director of alumni relations, were selected to participate.

The year-long program specializes in the talent development needs of faculty and staff members of private college campuses. Each participant was identified by their sponsoring college as someone whose leadership will be critical to the institution’s future.
“I am honored to be a member of the ICI Leadership Academy’s fifth cohort,” said Cagnet. “I appreciate the opportunity to learn from and grow with other higher education professionals as we work to equip emerging adults for their professional endeavors and community leaders. I am grateful for President Pistole and Anderson University’s Cabinet’s nomination to participate in this experience.”

Throughout the program, leaders will gain an understanding of their institution holistically, and within the state and federal higher education landscape. Academy graduates are trained to view their college through multiple lenses (academic, financial, community involvement, and others) and to develop the leadership competencies needed for their institution’s and their own professional success.
“It’s a great opportunity to be a part of the fifth ICI Leadership Academy Cohort,” said Palmer. “I hope to glean from fellow higher education practitioners in the state to be more aware and equipped for challenges and opportunities we all face. I’d like to extend a big thank you to President Pistole and the Cabinet for the opportunity to take part in this year-long experience.”
