AU Stands with anderson: A community Grocery and essentials drive
SAAC partners with Anderson Community Schools and local organizations to collect groceries and essential items for families impacted by flooding
ANDERSON, Ind. — Over the last month, the Anderson community experienced significant flooding, impacting families throughout the area. As neighbors continue to recover, the Anderson University community has an opportunity to come together and help.
The AU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is partnering with Anderson Community Schools and other local community partners to lead a food drive. AU Stands with Anderson: A Community Grocery & Essentials Drive will run from Aug. 31 through Sept. 19.
The drive welcomes donations of nonperishable food and grocery items. Baby products, toiletries, personal care items, cleaning supplies, and paper and household products are also appreciated.
Collection locations include local Pay Less and Kroger grocery stores, Anderson Community Schools, and East Side Church of God.
The AU community can also give on campus. Donation bins are currently available at the Kardatzke Wellness Center, Spiritual and Intercultural Life in Decker Hall, Olt Student Center, and residence halls.
“Whether it’s one item on your way to class or work, a full grocery bag, or a larger contribution from your team, office, or department, we would love to see the AU community rally behind our neighbors,” Josiah Marshall, president of SAAC, said.
The drive will culminate Sept. 19 at Anderson football’s home game, where SAAC will have collection bins at Macholtz Stadium. SAAC invites everyone attending to bring an item to the game as a final push for the drive.
Every donation matters, and every member of the AU community can play a part.
