Anderson University To Celebrate Homecoming Oct. 16-17
Alumni, families, and friends will return to campus for AU traditions, athletics, performances, and the AU Movement Release Party
Anderson, Ind. — Anderson University will hold its annual Homecoming and Family Weekend celebration October 16–17. The event will feature an AU Movement Release Party and long-standing traditions like the Street Fair and Luminaries.
“Homecoming is one of my favorite weekends at Anderson University. There is just something special about watching people come back to a place they love,” said Cheris Miller, director of alumni relations. “Our campus comes alive with the luminaries on Friday night, the street fair on University Boulevard, athletic contests, concerts, theater, art exhibits, campus tours, and so many opportunities to celebrate together. But my favorite part is seeing alumni walk back onto campus and immediately reconnect with friends, with memories, and with the place they once called home. No matter how long it’s been since you were a student, you will always have a place here. Homecoming reminds you that you are still part of the AU family. I absolutely love welcoming our alumni home. I can’t wait for another great Homecoming weekend!”
This year, an AU Movement release party will follow the Luminaries. The event will celebrate the band and student collective’s extended play (EP), which will be released that weekend.
Events like Cheap Thrills and Encore are back, along with the annual Alumni Awards Ceremony. The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will host its Homecoming Wind Ensemble concert Friday night and its fall production, A Doll’s House, Saturday and Sunday.
AU athletics will be in full force as well, with men’s and women’s cross country competing at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic and men’s and women’s swimming and diving competing Friday. Football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball will host home games Saturday. The newest class of the Athletics Hall of Fame will be inducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. The induction will follow the football field naming and Macholtz Stadium renovation dedication at 10 a.m.
