The Magical Raven

On Aug. 26, an Anderson University alumnus, Jonathan Mobley BA ’07, will perform illusions with some of the biggest names in the industry, Penn & Teller. This performance will be available to view at 8 p.m. EST on the CW Network’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us.

This passion for illusion started when Mobley was just a child. He would save up his money and ask his Christmas and birthday gifts to be magic sets. It was all so that he could share his excitement with others.

Mobley is a self-taught magician. He graduated from AU with a degree in Mass Communication. “My business marketing classes and communications degree continue to help me as I develop my brand and promote my show” Mobley states.

During his time at AU, Mobley was a part of an AU improv group called, the Randomonium. “It was the best decision I could make for my career at the time. I learned so much about comedy, story structure, thinking fast on my feet,” Mobley continues, “and most importantly, how to be in the moment.”

“Having the support of family, friends, and my peers means so much to me,” Mobley explains. “For me, it’s so much more than entertainment – magic offers joy and wonder that can only be experienced by seeing.” Be sure to tune in on Aug. 26!
