Music auditions open to all students
Do you have some musical talent to share? Then you'll want to sign up for one of our choral or instrumental ensembles. Or maybe you want to work one-on-one with a professor. Placement exams are also available for music theory and keyboard classes.
Music ensembles are open to all students, regardless of major. Auditions will be Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 4. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the lobby of the music building. For instrumental auditions, prepare scales and a solo. No solo required for choral auditions. Sight-reading required for instrumental and choral auditions. Students who have taken music theory classes and would like to attempt the theory transfer/exemption exam should contact Jonathan Brooks by phone at (765) 641-4455 before Fri., August 28. The department has scheduled the fall semester transfer/exemption exam for 3:30 p.m. on Tues., September 1 in Fine Arts 239.
Students who have taken five or more years of piano should take the Keyboard 1 Exemption Exam which will be given on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1. To arrange a time to take this exam, students must sign up for individual times on the sign-up sheets posted in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building and may contact Reginald Rodgers for more information.
Auditions for placement in a voice studio will be Tuesday, September 1st, 1-5 p.m. Prepare two contrasting selections. Contact Dr. Fritz Robertson (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions about voice studio placement.
