Guidelines for the Matching Scholarship Program
Enroll your church.
Mail a completed Enrollment Form [PDF] to the university. Obtain the signature of approval of the pastor.
Use your committee.A scholarship committee should be formed to make your local decisions about student awards.
Send in Student Award Forms.Complete all information on Student Award Form. Your local scholarship committee should determine the amount of student award. Committees are encouraged to give equal awards to students.
Act before March 1.Awards received by March 1 preceding the academic year in which the scholarships are to be awarded are assured a matching scholarship. After March 1, a potential match is dependent upon available university funds. NOTE: The number of scholarships matched by Anderson University is limited to the available size of the Anderson University financial aid budget. Early action by a committee may make the difference of receiving an available Anderson University Matching Scholarship.
Encourage donors to contribute to your scholarship account—not to individual students.Your local committee should independently decide which students receive a scholarship and how much the scholarship will be.
Exclude gifts from family members.Available monies in this program must be from sources that are "detached and of disinterested generosity." Funds from student's parents, sisters, brothers, grandparents, uncles and aunts must not be used to fund awards.
Encourage donors who work for matching employers to contribute directly to Anderson University. You can obtain a listing of matching companies from our employer directory. The donor may not designate a specific student recipient, but may designate that his or her gift be placed in the church's scholarship account here at Anderson University to be used for awards for students from his/her church.
Use your Scholarship Certificates. When your committee notifies Anderson University of a student award, a Scholarship Certificate will be sent to your committee from the Office of Development. Presentation of this certificate to your student will encourage others to participate as well as honor your student for his/her commitment to attending Anderson University.
Questions concerning the program, church account balance, student awards, and general information should be directed to the Office of Development by calling (765) 641-4069, or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
