A portrait was unveiled for Dr. David L. Sebastian, former dean of the Anderson University School of Theology, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.
David Slonim, a local artist, painted the portrait.
"God knows how to paint a portrait," Slonim said during the unveiling ceremony. "If this painting looks anything like David Sebastian, it is by the grace of God."
Dr. Sebastian was the longest-serving dean at the School of Theology when he retired in July 2014, having begun his tenure in 1995. He taught courses in leadership, preaching and evangelism.
Anderson University has been the host of an exhibit of The Saint John’s Bible, a hand-illuminated Bible created in the tradition of the pre-printing press era. The St. John’s Bible is a hand-written work of art.
Since Aug. 25 students, faculty, staff and community members alike have had the opportunity to search through and explore its seven volumes.
The Board of Trustees of Anderson University (Anderson, Ind.) is pleased to announce the election of John S. Pistole, J.D., as president-elect. Pistole’s appointment as president-elect of Anderson University was approved by the board of trustees during their fall meeting. Following ratification by the General Assembly of the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.) in June 2015, Pistole will be the fifth person in the nearly 100-year history of Anderson University to hold the position of president.
Dr. James W. Lewis was a successful young CPA with one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms, Arthur Young & Co., when he felt an inexorable call to serve God through ministry.
“I accepted a call to be a follower of Christ, and I also sensed a strong desire to learn more and learn about ministry,” said Lewis, who will be formally installed as dean of the Anderson University School of Theology on Sunday at Park Place Church of God.
