Journalism is a rapidly changing field. It is no longer about just paper and ink, but it touches every form of mass communication in existence today: web, mobile, social media, radio, television, and yes, traditional print media. The Department of Communication at AU offers vital professional experience in each of these areas of communication, preparing students for careers in print, web, and broadcast media.

Journalism students have the opportunity to play key roles in professional ventures at AU, including WQME 98.7 FM, the Andersonian newspaper, and in video productions such as the Emmy® Award-winning documentary A Ripple of Hope. These cross-media opportunities prepare students for roles in today's diverse media.

Through the mentoring of experienced and caring faculty, journalism students gain the understanding that communication is a sacred trust, privilege, and obligation. Students develop the capacity to make sound and discerning judgments about communication content, technique, and effectiveness. In the end, students gain not only professional competence but also personal integrity and maturity, qualities that are strongly valued and encouraged at Anderson University.
