Students in Anderson University’s Department of History and Political Science are preparing to be involved in the American Security Project’s (ASP) University Partnership Program. AU is one of three schools involved in the first run of this program, and it is the only private university in the United States to be chosen.
Anderson University administrative offices will be closed to observe the Christmas and New Year’s holidays beginning Friday, December 21, at 5 p.m. and will re-open on Wednesday, January 2, at 8 a.m. Campus security officers will maintain normal hours during the extended holiday.
Students in Anderson University Professor of Management Dr. Michael Collette’s strategic management class are learning what it takes to run their own business. The students are making strategic business decisions for simulated companies selling athletic shoes, and each decision plays a major role in how the business works. At the end of the semester, students evaluate their strategies and find out how their simulated shoe sales compared with sales from student groups at other universities.
Carissa Drake, a sophomore at Anderson University, recently received the 2012 Indiana Broadcasters Association scholarship. Drake is studying communication arts with a concentration in audio/video/cinema production. During her freshman year, she became engaged in several opportunities on and off campus, allowing her build her craft.
Five Anderson University biology and chemistry students recently gained hands-on experience and learned the latest technological developments in pharmaceutical research at the annual Bio-analytical Outreach Conference. The conference was hosted by Eli Lilly and Company, one of the largest pharmaceutical research and production organizations in the world and headquartered in Indianapolis.
Drew Beechler, an Anderson University senior marketing major with a focus on integrated marketing and a minor in entrepreneurship, has spent his four years at AU compiling valuable professional experiences and networking connections. Beechler was recently named student director of Anderson Media Group (AMG), an on-campus organization that generates promotional content for the Falls School of Business (FSB).
For nearly two decades, Anderson University’s Covenant Productions® has worked closely with the promoters of Indianapolis’ Heartland Film Festival — allowing AU film students the opportunity to work on coverage pieces that promote uplifting festival films, while meeting some of the biggest names in the industry.
For a freshman at any university, the first year can be a time to figure out personal strengths and interests. While many freshmen get involved in extracurricular activities, very few actively pursue leadership roles until they’ve completed their first year. This is not the case for Chelsa Lee, an Anderson University student who, as a sophomore, has already secured a leadership role as the director of AU’s New Image Gospel Choir. This is a position she actively pursued her freshman year.
