AU student to lead dance outreach ministry in Trinidad

Learn more about Leanna Miller, a junior at Anderson University, who will be leading a dance outreach ministry in Trinidad this summer.

In July 2015, Leanna Miller, a junior exercise science major with a minor in dance performance, will lead a dance outreach program in Trinidad. The goal for Miller’s trip is to use dance as a form of ministry, worship and outreach.

“Dance is unique in that it can communicate through language and cultural barriers,” said Miller. “The Trinidadian culture is very expressive and vibrant, and dance is a language that they easily and enthusiastically accept.”

Two exceptional performances marked the Anderson University Chorale and Anderson College Choir's 70th anniversary reunion this weekend.

Current members of the Chorale and alumni from as far away as Washington State and Germany converged on campus to share stories, renew friendships and sing, sing, sing.

AU alumni Lawrence Brownlee, Heather Bays, Lynelle Jonsson and Kristin Watson Heintz were joined by Paul Langford, David Coolidge and Dana E. Stone in a Broadway Review at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday night.

Enactus is a national nonprofit organization providing meaningful experiences and opportunities for students through entrepreneurial action. The student-led organization gets its name from combining the words entrepreneurial, action and us.

Established in 1964, Tri-S is a program that allows students to have an opportunity for international and cross-cultural experiences through service and learning. The program is built on three themes: study, serve and share.

The 50th anniversary of the Tri-S program allows for a time of reflection of what has been done and what the future holds for Tri-S.

Dr. James L. Edwards will be the commencement speaker on May 9, 2015.

Anderson University recently announced that Dr. James L. Edwards, President Emeritus, will address the graduating class of 2015 during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 9. The 3 p.m. EDT program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Speaking during Anderson University’s baccalaureate service will be Rev. Dr. Diana L. Swoope, senior pastor at Arlington Church of God in Akron, Ohio.

AU Centennial Celebration Theme Announced

"Lighting the Path" has been selected as the theme for the Anderson University centennial celebration, which begins with Homecoming 2016.

Last year, students, alumni, faculty and staff were asked to submit ideas for the theme of the Anderson University centennial celebration. Nearly 70 entries were submitted, and a winner has been selected.

The theme for the Anderson University centennial celebration is "Lighting the Path." Stefanie Leiter, manager of online communications and community relations specialist at Anderson University, submitted the chosen idea.

AU SOT presents Amazing Aging/Aging Amazingly conference

Andrea Morehead will be the keynote speaker at the Amazing Aging/Aging Amazingly.

The Anderson University School of Theology is sponsoring Amazing Aging/Aging Amazingly, a conference hosted at Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, Ind. on May 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The conference is a collaborative partnership of the AU SOT and participating Church of God congregations in Anderson, Chesterfield, and Alexandria.
