The School of Music at Anderson University is partnering with the Adams Foundation to present internationally-acclaimed concert pianist, James Tocco, in a solo piano recital at Central Christian Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 11. The City of Anderson was recently chosen as the first city in the Midwest to host the special piano recital series underwritten by the Adams Foundation.
Dr. Jeffrey Wright, dean of the College of the Arts and chair of the School of Music at Anderson University, received the “Administrator of the Year” from the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) during the organization’s most recent conference in Indianapolis.
Dr. Nelita True, a faculty member at the famed Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, will perform on Friday evening, Nov. 3, at 7:30 in Austin Performance Hall of Krannert Fine Arts Center on the Anderson University campus. Appearing as featured guest artist of the 2006 State Conference of the Indiana Music Teachers Association (IMTA), True will present a piano recital including works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, and Chopin. The two-day annual conference is being hosted by the Anderson University School of Music.
The lights come up on an amusement park scene set in New England in the late 1800s. The stage is filled with fishermen, sailors and maids dancing and taking in the sights. With the upbeat and cheerful carnival-type music flowing from the orchestra pit, it’s enough to make anyone in the audience get up and dance. This is the opening to “Carousel” presented by the Boze Lyric Theatre at Anderson University that opens Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Anderson University Department of Music recently announced the launching of a Master's degree in Music Education (M.M.E.), the first graduate degree program to be offered by the Department of Music. Since the University’s founding in 1917, music has always played a major part in the life of the campus community. The new program will be geared to elementary, middle school and high school music educators throughout central Indiana.
