Indianapolis Colts Training Camp at Anderson Unviersity
July 26, 2013

Time to break out the blue-and-white jerseys, sunglasses and sun block and take in some professional football (practice) at Anderson University.

The Indianapolis Colts will arrive Saturday for training camp, and for two weeks fans can watch their favorite players go through the motions in preparation for the 2013 season.

The Colts’ first exhibition game will be Aug. 11, when they host the Buffalo Bills. Indy will open the season Sept. 8 with a home date against the Oakland Raiders.

This is the fourth year at AU since the Colts decided to return training camp to Anderson after more than a decade at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute.

What can fans expect? There are some new players this year, such as first-round draft pick Bjoern Werner from Florida State, He was the last of the draftees to sign a contract, which means they will all be at camp.

The veterans will, too, including sophomore quarterback Andrew Luck, who will be getting a start to improve over his freshman season, which wasn’t too bad.

He led the Colts to an 11-6 season and a wildcard playoff berth against the Baltimore Ravens. The Colts lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions.

As Herald Bulletin sports reporter George Bremer points out in the Colts Camp Guide published with The Herald Bulletin today, there will be battles on the practice fields for starting positions. It should make for intense practice sessions under the watchful eye of coach Chuck Pagano, who will be on hand after missing much of the 2012 season while battling cancer.

As host of the camp, Anderson University will be ready for the pilgrimage of Colts’ fans to Anderson.

The university makes sure that all of the facilities are ready for the players and all fans are welcome.

On Saturday, the players will arrive, and the first practice is set for Sunday. Plan on getting out to see the coaches and players while they are in camp.
