More than 40 Anderson University undergraduate students will present research during the 5th annual AU Scholars' Day on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Reardon Auditorium Lobby. The event will feature poster presentations from a wide range of academic disciplines at AU.
As Anderson University students pack-up for the end of the semester, the Department of Student Life wants to make certain they are looking ahead to the activities being planned during Welcome Weekend. From August 22 to 24, Welcome Weekend will incorporate activities scheduled for orientation and includes a special night of worship with the group, All Sons and Daughters.
Anderson University recently recognized several students, faculty, and staff for their dedication to community service during the past year.
The 2013-14 Community Partner of the Year was awarded to Dove Harbor. Dove Harbor provides opportunities for students to be involved in programming, interpersonal training, and leadership roles.
“Dove Harbor has greatly assisted in the learning process of several AU students,” said Dr. Shelda Borders, assistant professor of psychology.
Anderson University recognized seniors Logan Hansen, Kayleigh Mower, and Lauren Stephens during honors chapel convocation on April 22, for achieving a 4.0 cumulative GPA during their years at AU. Alexandria Friske and Tyler Ganus were also recognized with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for their academic and athletic accomplishments, campus involvement, and leadership.
For the past five years Anderson University students have been sprucing up the city through the Operation Foundation program.
Jennie McMullen, a student at AU and director of Operation Foundation, said 325 students volunteered this month to pick up trash, rake leaves, paint, mend fences and clean up the hiking and biking trails.
Mayor Kevin Smith presented the students with a Community Service Award on Wednesday.
Anderson University senior Sara Eaton majoring in Bible and Religion, from LaGrange, Ind., was recently selected as the 2014 recipient of the Billie Roy and Pearl Toon Smith Endowed Christian Education Scholarship Award. The scholarship was presented to Eaton on April 16 by the Department of Religious Studies during a luncheon in the Olt Student Center.
Anderson University visual communication design major Joy Gippem Cho was honored with the Design Leadership Award from AIGA Indy (American Institute for Graphic Arts, Indianapolis), at their 2014 Student Portfolio Re:View on April 5. Cho was recognized for the quality of her portfolio and her ability to communicate about her work during the event.
