Winkle gains experience in mayor's office

This summer, Anderson University senior Audrey Winkle had the opportunity to explore the world of politics. Winkle landed an internship with the Front Porch Alliance, an organization affiliated with Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard’s office.

Front Porch Alliance works with faith-based and community organizations that serve Marion County residents. Its job is to build partnerships with groups in the community to improve living conditions within the neighborhoods of Marion County.

Danielle Gilles sets school record for saves

When Sunday’s delayed homecoming women’s soccer match against Hanover was over, Danielle Gilles dutifully nodded while her father told her to ask Anderson University head coach Jennifer Myhre about the school record for saves.

The Ravens had just lost for the 12th straight time to start the season, and Gilles thought her dad might just have been attempting to make her feel better.

Turns out the old man was onto something after all.

Held in Anderson for the first time, the Professional Bowlers Association Central Region Open gave bowling enthusiasts the opportunity to see the pros up close this weekend.

Reardon Auditorium a popular venue for events, concerts, camps

Reardon Auditorium is not just a place where Anderson University students gather twice a week to fulfill chapel requirements; it is a place that brings much more to AU and to the community of Anderson. Reardon facilitates three services in one — special events, concerts, and summer camps.

One of the three services Reardon provides is event planning to both campus and non-campus clients. Reardon puts on more than 350 events each year.

AU family saddened by news of Pagano

Dave Edwards was going through his usual Monday morning routine when his secretary called him with an urgent message: Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano had been diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia.

Edwards dropped what he’d been doing and sought out the nearest television. As he sat watching Colts owner Jim Irsay explain the situation to fans and media during a hastily assembled news conference at the team’s headquarters, one question raced through Edwards’ mind.

AU honors Bill Gaither with music alumni award

William J. Gaither has earned countless awards and worldwide recognition for a gospel music career that has spanned 45 years and still seems far from over.

There have been eight Grammy Awards and more than a dozen nominations; twice that number of Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association as well as songwriter of the year awards.

Many of the 600 songs Gaither has penned, including his earliest breakthrough hit, “He Touched Me,” have become Christian hymnal standards known worldwide.
