Wesleyan beats volleyball team for second time

The Anderson University volleyball team lost to Indiana Wesleyan in four games on Saturday in Marion. The Wildcats defeated the Ravens in Anderson earlier this season, also in four games. The Wildcats won by scores of 25-17, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-7.

Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 19 kills, 10 digs, four service points and Kasey Bollier had 42 assists, eight service points and seven digs.

Carol Weatherford had six kills, five digs, five service points, two blocks and Rachel Peli had 12 digs and four service points. Kate McCollum had eight kills, three digs and Allee Donaghy seven digs. Caitlin Morency added 22 digs, three service points and Tara Denham 10 kills.

AU (12-13, 4-1 HCAC) hosts Defiance on Wednesday and will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m. It is also Dig For The Cure Night for increased breast cancer awareness.

Volleyball win streak hits four games in HCAC

The Anderson University volleyball team won its fourth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match, defeating Hanover College in four games on Wedneday night at Hanover.

Carol Weatherford led the Ravens with 12 kills, nine service points, six digs and five blocks, including two solos. Kasey Bollier had 43 assists, 12 service points, nine digs, three blocks and Jessica Berlin had 18 kills, 10 digs and nine service points.

Caitlin Morency had 23 digs, 11 service points and Kate McCollum had nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Allee Donaghy added eigth digs, seven service points and Tara Denham had six kills and six digs.

AU (12-12, 4-1 HCAC) travels to Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at noon.

Volleyball team finishes 2-2 at Millikin tournament

The Anderson University volleyball team defeated Lincoln Christian (3-1) and Illinois College (3-0), but lost to Wisconsin-LaCrosse (3-1) and host Millikin (3-2) on Friday and Saturday at the Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Ill.

On Friday, AU defeated Lincoln Christian (25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21), but lost to LaCrosse (19-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-19). On Saturday, the Ravens defeated Illinois College (26-24, 25-12, 25-15), but lost to Millikin (25-18, 24-26, 15-25, 28-26, 15-12).

Carol Weatherford was named to the All-Tournament team for the Ravens. The junior middle hitter finished the weekend with 35 kills, 14 digs, 14 service points and 14 blocks.

Jessica Berlin had 59 digs, 42 kills, 39 service points, nine service aces, four blocks and Kasey Bollier had 162 assists, 57 digs, 38 service points, eight service aces and four blocks. Kate McCollum had 52 kills, 26 digs, two blocks and Tara Denham had 26 kills, eight digs and seven blocks.

Caitlin Morency added 82 digs, 28 service points and Emily Bell had 25 service points and 19 digs. Allee Donaghy chipped in with 29 digs, 24 service points and Liz Turner had 25 kills, four blocks and three digs.

AU (11-12, 3-1 HCAC) travels to Hanover on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Volleyball team runs win streak to four vs. Bluffton

The Anderson University volleyball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Bluffton University in four games on Wednesday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

The Ravens defeated the Beavers by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-16. The victory was the fourth in a row overall for AU and the third consecutive HCAC win.

Kasey Bollier led the Ravens with 40 assists, 14 digs, six blocks and five service points. Carol Weatherford had 12 kills, 12 service points, five blocks, three digs and Jessica Berlin had 11 digs, eight kills and eight service points.

Kate McCollum had 13 kills, four digs and Emily Bell had 11 digs, four service points and two service aces. Caitlin Morency had 30 digs, eigtht service points and Tara Denham had 10 digs, six kills and two blocks. Liz Turner added eight blocks, six kills and Allee Donaghy chipped in with 14 digs and nine service points.

AU (9-10, 3-1 HCAC) travels to the Millikin tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Volleyball team wins pair of matches in Kentucky

The Anderson University volleyball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Transylvania (3-2) and NAIA opponent St. Catherine (3-0) on Saturday at the Beck Center in Lexington, Ky.

The Ravens defeated the Pioneers 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-10 and St. Catherine by scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-8.

Carol Weatherford led the Ravens with 18 kills, 15 service points, 10 blocks, six service aces and two digs. Kasey Bollier had 67 assists, 10 digs, two blocks and Jessica Berlin had 14 kills, 18 digs and seven service points.

Kate McCollum had 19 kills, five digs and Emily Bell added 11 service points and three digs. Caitlin Morency added 28 digs, nine service points and Allie Donaghy chipped in with 20 service points, 20 digs and six assists. Tara Denham added 10 kills in the first match.

Against St. Catherine, Sydnie Garber had nine service points, seven digs, two kills and Rachel Peli had nine service points, four digs and two service aces.

Sarah McBride had five kills, four digs and Paige Allen had nine assists and three digs. Kathann Cassel and Jessie Wolf added four kills each.

AU (8-10, 2-1 HCAC) hosts conference foe Bluffton on Wednesday. The match will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m.

Volleyball team gets first loop win at Franklin

The Anderson University volleyball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Franklin College in four games on Wednesday night at the Spurlock Center in Franklin.

The Ravens won by scores of 25-22, 28-30, 25-18 and 25-20 to earn their first HCAC victory of the season.

Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 12 kills, 12 service points and 11 digs. Caitlin Morency 17 digs, eight service points, three aces and Kasey Boller had 44 assists and 16 digs.

Liz Turner had nine kills, seven blocks and Carol Weatherford 12 kills and five blocks. Kate McCollum added eight kills, four digs, Emily Bell 10 service points and Allie Donaghy eight digs.

AU (6-10, 1-1 HCAC) travels to Lexington, Ky., on Saturday to play Transylvania (noon) and St. Catherine (2 p.m.).

Volleyball team finishes 6th at DePauw Tourney

The Anderson University volleyball team went 1-3 on Friday and Saturday at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, finishing sixth in the eight-team tournament.

The Ravens defeated North Central (24-26, 17-25, 27-25, 25-23, 15-13) , but lost to Rose-Hulman (25-17, 25-19, 28-26), St. Mary’s (17-25, 25-16, 25-17, 23-25, 15-13) and DePauw (25-21, 25-22, 25-16).

Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 63 digs, 50 kills and 23 service points. Kasey Bollier had 168 assists, 30 digs, 10 service points and Carol Weatherford had 42 kills, 16 service points and 12 blocks. Tara Denham had 37 digs, 28 service points, 14 kills and Caitlin Morency added 96 digs and nine kills.

Kate McCollum added 28 kills, 10 service points and Liz Turner 19 kills and seven blocks. Allee Donaghy chipped in with 17 digs and 11 service points.

AU (5-10, 0-1 HCAC) travels to HCAC foe Franklin on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Manchester wins 5-set volleyball match at AU

The Anderson University volleyball team lost a five-set match to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Manchester College on Wednesday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium in the loop opener for both teams.

The Spartans defeated the Ravens by scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-25 and 15-12.

Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 19 kills, 21 digs, nine service points and two blocks. Kate McCollum was also in double figures with 18 kills to go with three service points, two digs and two blocks.

Kasey Bollier had 50 assists, 15 digs, four service points, three blocks and Caitlin Morency had 33 digs and nine service points. Tara Denham had seven kills, 21 digs, seven service points and Carol Weatherford added seven kills, six service points, five blocks and three digs. Liz Turner chipped in with four blocks and two digs off the bench.

AU (4-7, 0-1 HCAC) travels to the DePauw Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Tigers beat Ravens in four-games in volleyball

The Anderson University volleyball team lost to DePauw University in four games on Wednesday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

The Tigers defeated the Ravens by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-22.

Kate McCollum led the Ravens with 12 kills, 10 service points, eight digs and two service aces. Jessica Berlin had 10 kills, 13 digs, six service points and three blocks.

Kasey Bollier had 34 assists, 18 digs and Caitlin Morency had 26 digs, four kills and two service aces. Tara Denham added eight kills, 14 digs, 10 service points, three blocks and two service aces.

AU (4-6) hosts Manchester next Wednesday. The game will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m.

Volleyball team finishes 1-3 at Hanover Tourney

The Anderson University volleyball team finished 1-3 over the weekend at the Hanover Invitational.

The Ravens defeated Centre (25-11, 25-20, 25-21), but lost to Maryville (25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18), Principia (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) and Hanover (25-22, 25-12, 25-15).

Overall, Kate McCollum led the Ravens with 36 kills, 17 service points and seven service aces. Jessica Berlin had 46 kills, 44 digs and Caitlin Morency had 86 digs, 22 service points and five service aces.

Allee Donaghy had 64 assists, 34 digs, 23 service points and Carol Weatherford had 12 kills and five blocks. Tara Denham added 18 kills, four blocks and Liz Turner chipped in with seven blocks. Kasey Bollier added 43 assists.

AU (4-5) hosts DePauw on Wednesday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The game will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m.
